Description

This is a MEMS Optical Inc (Now part of Zeiss Group)  diffractive laser beam shaper element. This component converts a TEM00 Gaussian UV 355nm laser beam into a uniform 50 um flat top beam. Part comes from surplus engineering surplus. It was inspected under microscope and does not have any sign of wear and tear or laser spotting.
Component is typically used to improve laser processing capability by eliminating laser energy hot spot. However it requires precision alignment.
From manufacturer documentation:
"Lasers do not typically have a uniform beam profile across the entire area of their output. Beam shapers are typically used to convert a gaussian beam intensity profile to a uniform "top hat" shape. These are often the most complex optics to design but MEMS Optical's gray scale lithography allows for the creation of extremely high performance beam shapers, often with uniformity within 2% with virtually no speckle present."
