    Description

    You are bidding on a post WWII, German made US Army Air Force 64th Fighter Wing (FW) Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI/DI).
    The insignia is used and is good condition with limited signs of wear and age.
    The backside has a screwback fastener that is in good working order with the screw post firmly attached and straight. The 64th FW was constituted as 3d Air Defense Wing on 12 Dec 1942 The wing moved to
    Algeria
    in Feb 1943, and was redesignated as 64th Fighter Wing in July of the same year.
    The wing was assigned to the Twelfth AF in the
    Mediterranean
    until Nov 1944, then moved was moved to the European theater and continued operations until the war ended. After the war the wing remained in
    Germany
    and was inactivated on 5 Jun 1947.
