    FDC produced for the Owney The Postal Dog stamp issued in Washington, DC, on July 27, 2011. Owney was a Border terrier adopted as the first unofficial postal mascot by the Albany, New York, post office about 1888. He "joined" the Railway Mail Service and road the rails for nine years.
